On Friday 1st September, Marsha de Cordova, MP for Battersea, visited York Gardens library to deliver books for children and young people.

Books play a vital role in children’s educational development by encouraging learning and fostering creativity.

During the visit, de Cordova met with children who spoke about what reading and books mean to them and shared stories about their favourite books.

Marsha de Cordova, MP for Battersea said:

“It was wonderful to visit York Gardens library to donate books that will be enjoyed by children and young people here in Battersea.

I believe all children should have access to quality books as reading plays a vital role in children’s literacy development, shaping their imaginations, and helping to inspire them to reach their true potential.

Our libraries provide space and opportunities for books to be enjoyed.

Andrea Marc, Centre Manager York Gardens Library & Community Centre said:

“The gifting of books to the library was timely,Dear Toby Porter, following on the Summer Reading Challenge and they are a welcome addition to our children’s library stock, which will be enjoyed by our regular readers.”
